The Opportunity: Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager is responsible for providing leadership, management and administration for accounts payable, accounts receivable, student financial services and student Financial Assistance office, as well as general accounting. Essential functions include providing guidance on payables, managing Student Accounts Receivable, semester and year-end closing and reporting, Financial Information System Management, as well as statutory filings including T4A and T2202AS. Further, this position is responsible for the endowment fund and bursary fund management, and assisting with the preparation of yearend accruals and annual audit. The incumbent provides various financial analyses for control and maintenance of the financial information systems and provides accounting and financial support for the day-to-day operations of the College while acting as a resource person to the multiple college departments. The incumbent will work as part of the finance team with the VP Finance and Corporate Services Director of Finance and the Manager of Financial Planning to design, develop, implement and maintain a new corporate accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting system.

What you need to be successful:

  • Four-year degree in Business
  • Minimum three-five years relevant work experience, including:
    • Financial modelling, financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing practices
  • Ability to collect, analyze and manipulate data and experience with internal controls, forecasts, operating plans, reconciliations, financial reviews, financial statement preparation and cost analysis
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and supervisory skills including recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, interpersonal and conflict resolution
  • Excellent computer related skills including an advanced knowledge of Excel and Access Microsoft software products
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and working knowledge of PSAB
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with a high level of fiscal accountability
  • Ability to provide recommendations implement process improvements where necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is a full-time administrative position. Salary range is a payband 10 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
