You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.In Dillon, we function as a single team across 25 offices nationwide, allowing you to collaborate with teams and colleagues across the country daily. The role is available in our Halifax office.ResponsibilitiesWhat your day will look likeDesign & Project ManagementProvide full spectrum of project delivery, from requirement gathering, preliminary design, design, construction support, site reviews, commissioning, and troubleshooting for industrial, manufacturing, commercial, municipal, institutional and infrastructure projects.Involved in the design for power and electrical systems including but not limited to power distribution Low and Medium Voltage, Motor Control, Lighting systems, Emergency Power generation, Fire Alarm, SecurityInvolved in the design of voice and data communication systemsInvolved in the design of instrumentation and control systems including P&IDs, Instrumentation specifications, loop diagrams, PLC systems, SCADA systems, prepare technical specifications, drawings, and contract documentsPrepare technical reportsPrepare construction cost estimatesWitness testing and verification of Electrical and Control systemsAssist with thorough site investigation/review for the purpose of creating deficiency reports or determining existing site conditions during the design process of renovation projects.Assist with construction administration (CA) tasks, including shop drawing review, responding to requests for information (RFI) and issuing contemplated change orders (CCO).Complete the review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasks.Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staffCoordinate with Utilities, equipment suppliers, contractors, and clients on regular basisPeer review to ensure all design meets quality and applicable standards including Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes and regulations, UL, National Building codes, NFPA, and othersBusiness DevelopmentContribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentationsBusiness travel to other Dillon offices upon requestLearning and DevelopmentCommit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentInput to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committeesQualificationsWhat you will need to succeedA degree in electrical engineering from an accredited universityLicensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six monthsA minimum of five (5) years of related professional experienceExperienceProven experience in the preparation and design of Low Voltage Electrical Systems including:Electrical Equipment physical arrangement, selections, sizing and locatingOne line diagrams and engineering studies for equipment application, including metering, protection and controlLow and Medium Voltage Power design and specificationDesign calculations such as load analysis and calculations, Voltage drop, equipment sizing, bus/cable tray support loading, conduit and wire sizing.Emergency Power generator sizingGrounding and bondingShort Circuit, Arc Flash, and Relay Coordination calculations and designOverhead and underground electrical designMotor Control centre designLighting design and calculationsFire alarm systemsHazardous area classificationVideo surveillance systemsSecurity access control systemsCommunication systems (Data, telephone, internet)Proven experience in industrial control systems including:Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, P&IDsPLC and SCADA system designSCADA systems and related control and instrumentation designIndustrial control network designInstrumentation loop diagrams and wiring schematicsInstrumentation selection and specificationPreparation of Process Control NarrativesStart-up and commissioningProven experience in the preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installationDemonstrated abilities in the delivery of accurate and thorough designs that meet industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices with excellent constructabilityDemonstrated success in project management and business development various types of projectsProven experience in the review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability including Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes and regulations, UL, National Building codes, NFPA, and othersCoordination with various power and communications utilities and companies for successful completion and connection of power and communication lines to existing and new networksDemonstrated experience in maintaining complete project documentation with respect to design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data informationDemonstrated success of team collaboration with technical professionals on multi-disciplinary projectsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communicationExperience with PLC and SCADA system programming and configuration considered an assetExperience with AGi32 Lighting Analysis software considered an assetExperience with power
