Job Title, Location and ContractBand 7 Theatre Sister / Charge Nurse (Scrub) – General and Vascular Department, Main Theatres, The London Clinic. Permanent contract.Working Hours37.5 hours per week – Early & Late shifts, Monday to Sunday, plus on‑call participation.About The London ClinicEstablished in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independent charitable hospitals, renowned for delivering outstanding clinical outcomes and personalised patient care. We operate ten fully equipped operating theatres that support a wide range of complex procedures, including General, Vascular, Robotics, Orthopaedics, Neuro‑Spinal, Thoracic and ENT.Key Responsibilities – Clinical LeadershipLead the daily coordination of theatre activities for general and vascular lists, ensuring safe and effective patient care.Scrub for a range of complex surgical procedures, maintaining high clinical standards.Support consultant surgeons and theatre teams in delivering efficient, evidence‑based practice.Ensure all equipment, consumables and instruments are prepared and used safely.Promote infection prevention, safety compliance and adherence to AFPP and CQC standards.Team and Service ManagementProvide visible leadership and act as a clinical role model for the theatre team.Line‑manage, mentor and appraise staff, supporting training and professional development.Manage staffing levels and skill mix to ensure effective team performance.Contribute to recruitment, induction and ongoing staff engagement initiatives.Governance and QualityLead audits and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.Support investigations, incident reviews and implementation of action plans.Maintain accurate records, documentation and compliance with all clinical policies and standards.Skills and ExperienceRegistered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with significant scrub experience in General and/or Vascular Surgery.Experienced in leading a theatre team within a complex surgical environment.Strong communicator, able to influence, motivate and support others.Knowledge of governance, risk management and quality improvement processes.DesirableAdvanced Scrub Practitioner qualification and/or SFA.Experience in robotic or minimally invasive surgery.BenefitsPrivate Medical InsuranceContributory pension scheme (total contribution up to 20%)25 days holiday plus bank holidaysLife assuranceTravel season ticket loanFamily friendly benefitsA range of retail discountsExcellent career development with clear pathways and access to further education.Recruitment and ApplicationApplications will close once sufficient interest is received.Equal OpportunityWe are committed to building a diverse workforce and welcome applicants from under‑represented groups.
