Respiratory Therapist I – Royal Columbian Hospital Salary The salary range for this position is CAD $37.89 - $47.31 / hour Overview Royal Columbian Hospital is conveniently located adjacent to the Sapperton SkyTrain station on the Expo Line. The hospital is part of the Fraser Health Authority and participates in the Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP), a multi-year program to increase capacity, beds and services. Responsibilities Performs diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions and follow-ups related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with CPR and supporting initiation/maintenance of mechanical ventilation for adults, children and infants; airway management, patient evaluation and daily care as prescribed. Maintains documentation with reports, records and workload statistics per departmental standards. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals and program-related issues. Monitors and maintains respiratory equipment; performs cleaning, calibration, maintenance and quality control; reports supply needs and maintains logs. Contributes to quality improvement activities, including procedures, forms and patient materials. Provides in-service education as required and participates in meetings and departmental committees. Supports Respiratory Therapy student education and in-services for staff and the community as required. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Current CPR, Level C; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Skills And Abilities Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to work with others and in interdisciplinary teams. Organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to operate related respiratory therapy equipment. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
