Health and Safety Manager (Surrey, BC) Job Description We’re looking for a dynamic and adaptable Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) Leader to join our client’s Infrastructure division in Surrey, BC. If you’re based in Toronto and open to opportunities in British Columbia, this is a chance to lead safety initiatives on high-impact infrastructure projects. You’ll guide HS&E teams, build strong relationships with operations staff, and drive continuous safety improvements across multiple worksites. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates effectively, and brings creative solutions to complex challenges. Responsibilities Implement health & safety programs and ensure compliance across project sites Collaborate with the HS&E Program Manager to enhance safety systems Participate in senior management and client meetings Manage health and safety resources across multiple projects Lead investigations for major incidents with support from the HS&E Program Manager Coordinate corrective actions with supervisors and subcontractors Deliver task‑specific safety training and competency assessments Liaise with regulatory bodies during inspections Support project managers with site‑specific safety planning Ensure hazard assessments are completed and communicated (e.g., confined space, fall protection, ground disturbance) Essential Skills 5+ years in a health & safety leadership or mentoring role 10+ years in infrastructure, construction, or related industries CRSP, CHSO, or other HS&E designation (or in progress) Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and equipment Familiarity with BC health & safety regulations and codes Ability to influence field teams and drive safety performance Customer‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving skills Additional Qualifications Experience supporting projects with budgets over $400 million Work Environment This role is based in Surrey, BC, supporting infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, supervisors, and regulatory bodies to improve safety practices and ensure compliance. The position involves regular site visits and hands‑on engagement with field teams. Job Type & Location Contract‑to‑hire, based in Surrey, BC. Open to candidates from Toronto willing to relocate or travel. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $67.00 / hr.
