MongoDB Database Consultant Join the Pythian team as a MongoDB Database Consultant, working on projects across the globe. This is a remote, full‑time position in Canada. Why Pythian? We help clients transition to cloud environments and leverage advanced analytics, AI, and cutting‑edge technologies to meet their data goals. What You Will Be Doing Debug performance degradations, conduct audits and health checks. Design and implement new MongoDB and Cassandra deployments. Evaluate existing clusters and recommend best practices. Debug high‑priority issues in mission‑critical production environments. Engage with the MongoDB and Cassandra communities through user lists, IRC, blogs, webinars and open source projects. Brainstorm, design and develop prototypes. Automate and document operational procedures. Train and mentor junior team members. Provide performance and forecast reports on critical business processes. Participate in company and team meetings. Continuously learn about Pythian’s Operations‑as‑a‑Service stack. Provide on‑call support as part of the team’s rotation. What We Need From You Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 5 years of experience with MongoDB databases. Experience with Cassandra is an asset. Experience with other NoSQL databases (Solr, Scylla, CockroachDB) is an asset. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Shell, Python, Java, Go, C#, C++, Ruby, Ansible); Shell and Python preferred. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Experience with web applications, distributed systems, and databases. Familiarity with orchestration, configuration management, CI/CD and automation practices. Knowledge of monitoring, alerting and metric‑collection systems. Understanding of IT service standards such as ITIL. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivated and able to thrive in a demanding, fast‑paced environment. Meticulous attention to detail, strong active listening, analytical, evaluative, and problem‑solving skills.
