SummaryReporting to the Director of Program and Impact, the Community Support Coordinator will: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Community Support Team. Oversee and coach the Community Support team within a non-unionized environment. Create and update policies and procedures and processes for the Community Support Program as needed. Key ResponsibilitiesService DeliveryThe position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and empowerment of women and their children accessing the Community Support Program. Responsibilities include: Collaboration and Gap Identification: Work with the Director of Programs and Impact, Program Managers and Supervisors – Kelowna and West Kelowna to identify gaps in services and client risk assessment. Essential Needs Provision: Ensure all program participants are safely connected to resources such as financial assistance, food, shelter, domestic violence support programs, and other KWS programs; uphold dignity. Referral Suitability Assessment: Periodically review and assess the suitability of internal and external referrals; evaluate effectiveness of referrals. Assessment and Referrals: Review and approve assessments for internal or external program suitability. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records and documentation. Program Evaluation: Continuous evaluation of effectiveness, efficiency, accessibility, and participant satisfaction. Respond to women’s requests and concerns, consulting with the Director of Programs and Impact and the Community Support team as needed. Service delivery is based on an inclusive, trauma-informed, response-based and harm-reduction approach. Case ManagementProvide short-term case management services to women experiencing domestic abuse, based on a women-centered approach. This service includes: Intake: gather demographics, identify immediate needs, establish relationship, determine eligibility. Needs assessment: identify needs and goals with stakeholders; reassess periodically. Service planning: develop actionable, achievable plans with timelines and metrics. Monitoring and evaluating metrics to measure success. LeadershipThe position fosters a positive, collaborative environment. Responsibilities include: Policies and Procedures: Create and update Community Support Program policies and procedures. Team Meetings and Training: Organize regular meetings and identify training needs. Cross-Program Collaboration: Build strong relationships with other programs, departments, leadership, partners and volunteers. Supervision and Onboarding: Ensure consistent policies, onboarding, and training; adjust per facility needs. Community Engagement: Represent the organization at community meetings; present to the community as needed. ManagementEffective management for operational excellence and a positive work environment: Community Support Team supervision: Set expectations, monitor progress, provide feedback, document coaching. Effective Communication: Balance active listening with clear communication; inspire the team. Documentation and Confidentiality: Maintain professional, confidential file documentation; adhere to standards. Human Resources and Team ManagementKey responsibilities related to HR and team management: Scheduling and Monitoring: Schedule and monitor the Community Support team; approve time sheets and leave requests. Onboarding and Training: Develop onboarding processes and oversee training; ensure contract deliverables are met. Performance Expectations and Reviews: Maintain documentation; conduct regular performance reviews. Recruitment and Administration: Recruitment, coaching, disciplinary actions, and dismissals. Financial Resources and Budget ManagementThe role includes financial oversight and resource management: Budget Oversight: Oversee the annual budget in consultation with the Director of Programs and Impact. Budget Maintenance: Ensure adherence to approved budget and allocate resources effectively. Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of related experience or a combination of experience in social services with vulnerable populations and education. Knowledge of, or experience with, Response Based Practice. Intermediate First Aid Certification and ASIST Training. Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to meet participants off-site when required. Experience with documentation, client support, program implementation, reporting, and evaluation. Strong understanding of external services and systems available to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Cultural Competence and Crisis Management. Change management, interpersonal communication, computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and client management systems). Judgement and Decision MakingYour ability to exercise sound judgment is crucial: Contextual decision-making within policies and directives. Resource monitoring in consultation with the Manager, Programs – Kelowna. Impact prevention to avoid negative impacts on the organization and services. ContactsRegular and consistent contact with team members and external organizations to exchange information and resolve issues.Working ConditionsPossible conditions include: Strict deadlines Multiple demands Frequent interruptions Exposure to suffering; emotionally challenging Mental & Physical EffortRole involves both mental and physical tasks: Concentration Multi-sensory work Physical demands: some lifting or repetitive movements Hours of Work37.5-hour workweek, typically Monday to Friday. Start and end times vary for 24/7 facility support.
