Metro Supply Chain is a 2024 winner of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program, recognized for its strategic expertise, culture of innovation and commitment to its people and local communities.Summary:The Payroll specialist works as part of a team to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time by managing the entire payroll process.Responsibilities: Coordinates and process payroll in a timely manner ensuring the integrity of payroll dataEnsure all pay groups are validated before final submission for processingEscalate potential service issues to the Payroll ManagerManaging payroll garnishments, ensuring deductions are computed properly, and completing processing accuratelyPerforming reconciliation of group insurance benefitsServe as a point of contact for employees and Managers, addressing questions and resolving issues related to their pay.Complete statistical reports, statements and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts and submit them to appropriate departmentsAssist in the preparation of year end processing related reportingSupporting internal and external auditsProvide assistance and payroll information to unionized and non-unionized employeesAct as a temporary replacement during vacation timeAnalyze payroll problems and provide appropriate resolutions.Awareness of legislation and payroll procedure relating to international countries: UK, CAN and USQualifications:Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar position (full payroll cycle)Member of the Canadian Payroll Association/Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designationExperience with Canada and US payroll processing is a must.
