The ideal candidate will have a financial background and be comfortable with elements of financial analysis.What you will do:Assess risk for life insurance products based on the company’s underwriting guidelines andmake underwriting decisions based on authority limitsSeek clarification from proposed insured on MIB codes, as neededReview and report MIB codingMake underwriting decisions “same day” applications within same business dayParticipate in weekly team meetings and monthly case clinicsDistribute applications to team members (all Underwriters do this on a rotating basis)What we are looking for:Minimum 2 years experience as an Underwriter assessing Life and Critical Illness applicationsAbility to work independently, remotely and within a team environmentExceptional attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication skillsSuccessful completion of internal Jr. Underwriter training programWhat we offer:Paid vacation time and personal daysHealth and dental benefits, as well as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Opportunity to work with engaged and professional team and colleaguesOpportunities to participate in fun organization activities, such as our Holiday and Summer partiesWho we are:With operations in Canada and US, Insurance Supermarket Group of Companies, including Specialty Life Insurance, is one of the largest and fastest growing independently owned Insurance Technology companies in Canada.
