Cybersecurity & Compliance Analyst Permanent Full-time Apply Now Posting Number : PN -25-24 Job Type: Permanent Full-time, Non-Union Salary Range : $87,358.75 to $117,059.85 per year Location: Barrie, ON - Hybrid (see below for more details) Posted : Tuesday, October 21, 2025 Application Deadline : Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 11 : 59 pm The Opportunity The Information Technology Department provides information technology expertise and professional services to all City departments, affiliated agencies (Barrie Public Library, Barrie Police Services) and area municipalities receiving Barrie fire dispatch services. The Department is responsible for delivering, administering, managing and supporting (in partnership with the business units) all data and voice communications, including but not limited to network infrastructure, servers, storage infrastructure, printers, computing infrastructure, applications and software, databases, web services, geographic information systems, and project and portfolio management. The Department provides daily technology support to over 1100 users at more than 40 City locations across the City. Under the general guidance and direction of the IT Security Lead, the Cyber Security & Compliance Analyst will play a pivotal role in the City's cybersecurity program. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with industry regulations and government standards, performing threat intelligence and monitoring, and conducting thorough cybersecurity incident investigation. This position will also play a vital role in developing, monitoring and maintaining DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies, practices and procedures. Further information is available at www.barrie.ca / government-news / jobs Position Equivalency Code: F Experience Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities Five (5) years of experience in a similar role, including threat and risk assessment, and Vulnerability Management Knowledge / Skill / Ability General knowledge of the following legislation, regulations, or requirements: Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), Health Information Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). Working knowledge of the following principles and standards: Extensive knowledge of compliance frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, or COBIT. Familiarity with Bloodhound, Tenable, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Security, Purview is an asset. Proven experience in cybersecurity threat intelligence, risk assessments, and incident response. Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, prioritize threats, and make data‑driven security decisions under pressure. Demonstrated Ability to Develop, promote, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Develop technical standards and protocols, service level agreements, and live test procedures. Effectively allocate budgets, time, and human resources to support the achievement of branch goals and objectives. Identify complex problems; develop and evaluate options; and implement solutions utilizing reason, judgment, and prescribed resources. Identify educational/training needs of others; develop formal educational or training programs; teach or instruct others. Interpret and analyze data; identify challenges or opportunities; and make recommendations. Interpret and apply policies and procedures and use reason and judgment to develop conclusions or solutions to problems. Intermediate skills include Analytical Attention to Detail Change Management Collaboration Decision Making Interpersonal Multitasking Organizational Prioritization Problem Solving Report‑writing Research Time Management Verbal Communication Written Communication Advanced computer literacy using the following systems and software: Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word) Availability, as assigned, to assist with after‑hours questions, concerns, or emergencies; to attend evening/weekend meetings or special events; or to work outside of designated normal hours per week.
