Job Description We are seeking HCAs for 1:1 Dementia Care Clients living in NW/NE Calgary. Candidates with Monday to Sunday availability for Days and Evenings preferred. The Opportunity Our Health Care Aides are an integral part of our clients’ daily lives as our clients rely on our Aides to function effectively and comfortably. Our Aides provide the necessary physical and emotional support to our clients, but also relay insight and ideas to the health care professional in charge to improve our clients’ safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to Assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, and other health care tasks as delegated by the health care professional in charge (e.g., LPN, RN, physician) Home support activities including meal preparation, cooking, housekeeping, and shopping Ensuring clients are safe and comfortable Finding creative and effective solutions to improve client's quality of life and wellbeing Reporting and documenting necessary items appropriately and in a timely fashion Following direction and training from your supervisor Performing duties diligently and compassionately within your scope of practice Completing tasks with a high level of professionalism, expertise, and competency Requirements Education & Experience Experience with mental health an asset Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution CPR/BCLS certification required Minimum 1-year experience in a clinical setting is considered an asset Basic computer literacy Must speak, read, and write English fluently Skills & Abilities Excellent communication, organizational, and team skills High attention to detail and thoroughness Ability to provide compassion, empathy, and understanding to the client Ability to problem-solve through critical thinking and self-education Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including knowledge of appropriate ergonomics Ability to learn and receive training in areas you may have knowledge in, but no prior experience Enthusiastic attitude and energy to provide excellent care and service Portability We offer portability for hours you have already worked.
