Fixed term role This is a fixed term role approximately 6 months in length Who will you be working with? As the Specialist - Mechanical Engineering, you will report to the Manager, Engineering and Products and work with a team of talented engineers and software developers responsible for designing, developing, and delivering our industry-leading transit electronics solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer support, to ensure our solutions meet the evolving needs of our customers. How will you make a difference? Perform all aspects of technical work to meet ISO9001, CMMI and Wabtec Policy requirements as our customers and corporate demand. Read and interpret PCB, electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings. Design engineering drawings and create drawings in both 2 and 3-dimensional form for fabrication. Create accurate drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Assembly Instructions, and Wiring Instructions. Create detailed design documentation and estimate time to complete task. Review drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Assembly Instructions, and Wiring Instructions for accuracy. Create, maintain, and update part numbers, parts, BOMs, assemblies, and drawings per engineering direction and update the MRP system accordingly. Aid in selecting product materials and manufacturing, assembly and testing. Provide support to business development teams in preparing and developing various proposal materials to meet tight timelines. Support the Engineering Team in ensuring the systems meet all associated design criteria and specifications per the proposal and the contract. Participate in project scheduling activities. Participate in process improvements and implementations. Support the expansion of CMMI processes into Engineering. Continue to improve current processes to deliver more efficiently and effectively for the Projects. What do we want to know about you? Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with certificate or qualification in SolidWorks certification. Must have 2-4 years of engineering experience with AutoCAD 2024+, SolidWorks 2020+, 3D modeling and 2D drafting, EPDM preferred. Knowledge of Pneumatic, Hydraulic and HVAC systems is a plus. Able to Travel to customer site for design review meetings (10-25%). What will your typical day look like? Review, analyze and delivery as per customer contracts is a must. Interact with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors and service providers. Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with internal and external stakeholders. Organize and prioritize your project deliverables. Able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Strive for 100% accuracy in finished documentation with keen eye on details. Adaptable to change, learn quickly and independent. Able to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments. Manage document revision control and document and technical writing. Able to read, understand, and apply procedures. Able to work with minimum supervision. Use your experience in Manufacturing, Machining, and Assembly in an industrial/manufacturing environment, electrical assembly, and soldering to Create Documents/Drawings used for manufacturing and assembly. Physical demands The role may require occasional travel to customer sites, which may involve standing, observing small writing and labels, climbing, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary. You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
