Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.The Director of Research and Policy at Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) will oversee a national portfolio centered on research, policy, and labour market intelligence. This role involves strategic and operational leadership, collaborating with various stakeholders to drive EHRCs research excellence and policy influence. Key responsibilities include integrating policy research, economic modelling, labour market information, data science, and program evaluation to inform Canada's transition to a low-carbon electricity sector.The Director of Research and Policy will report directly to the Vice President of Programs.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipLeading a diverse portfolio of research, policy, and economic strategy initiativesDeveloping strategic plans to drive EHRCs research and policy functions and identifying talent to achieve goalsContributing to EHRCs overall organizational strategy and national positioningFostering innovation and accountability across teams and identifying new national opportunitiesResearch and AnalysisOverseeing research, data science, labour market information, and program evaluation teamsDirecting national labour market forecasting, modelling, and LMI tool developmentAnalyzing Canada's economic performance and competitivenessApplying economic modelling to assess major projects and policiesEnsuring methodological rigour and data integrity in research and analysisStakeholder EngagementCommunicating technical findings to diverse audiencesServing as a spokesperson on national economic issuesBuilding credibility with senior stakeholders in government, industry, and academiaRepresenting EHRC in national policy discussionsFinancial ManagementOverseeing financial planning and resource allocationEnsuring sustainability and growth through strong financial managementLeading risk, performance, and impact evaluation processes to ensure transparency and accountability.Education, Experience and SkillsA Master's or PhD in a relevant field such as Economics, Public Policy, or Data ScienceAt least 5-7 years of leadership experience in policy, economic research, or innovation strategy idealA proven track record of managing diverse teams and influencing senior stakeholdersStrong quantitative and qualitative methods modelling & analysis experienceExpertise in research methods, economic modelling, and labour market forecastingStrong strategic and financial planning skills, with experience in portfolio development and stakeholder engagementExcellent communication skills, with a history of delivering impactful reports and presentationsProficiency in R and SQL is requiredOccasional travel across Canada requiredWork Environment and CompensationHybrid work model: 3 days in-office, with flexibility to work remotelyConveniently located near public transportation, with on-site parking and local amenitiesComprehensive health benefits package (after probationary period)RRSP matching program (after 1 year of service)15 days of annual vacationOngoing professional development and skill-building opportunitiesSmall, dynamic and collaborative team of 15 staffCollaborative and supportive work environmentOpportunities for professional growth and advancementCompetitive salary based on experience and qualifications - $90,000 to $115,000 per yearIf you're excited about this opportunity and think you'd be a great fit, please submit your application in confidence.We thank all applicants for their interest in Express Employment Professionals; however, only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
