OverviewProgram Implementer, Provincial Preschool Autism Services - Central Zone (Halifax) at IWK Health.Location: Halifax. Type: Temporary Hourly FT long-assignment (100% FTE) for one year across 3 positions. Start Date: ASAP. Closing Date: November 4, 2025 (applications accepted until 23:59 Atlantic Time).Salary: $34.2008 - $40.9102 per hour.Union Status: NSGEU Hlthcare, Healthcare Bargaining Unit. This is a Healthcare bargaining unit position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for unionized positions. Successful applicants changing unions, bargaining units or employment status should seek clarification regarding seniority, benefits, and vacation entitlement prior to accepting the position.ResponsibilitiesDirect service provision to preschool age children with autism and their families based on an intervention plan (including service plans, intervention plans, and manualized curriculum plans).Standardized delivery of PPAS adopted evidence-based interventions and promising practices based in Applied Behaviour Analysis.Delivery of intervention for children and their families in a variety of centre-based or community-based locations (e.g., clinics, homes, childcare centres, and pre-primary classrooms).Work under the direct supervision of Clinical Interventionists and Speech Language Pathologists (CIs from the disciplines of BCBA, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Speech Language Pathology).Hours of WorkMonday – Friday, 75 hours bi-weekly (8:30 am to 4:30 pm). Flexibility in hours, including some evenings and weekends, is required.Education & CertificationsBachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Child and Youth StudiesBachelor’s Degree in Education with two years’ experience working with young children with developmental disabilities; specifically, experience with autism will also be consideredRecent experience (within the past 5 years) working with young children (0-7 years) with developmental disabilities; specifically with autism requiredPost-Secondary Behavioral Interventions Certificate or Diploma preferredCurrent BLS certification within the last 12 months, or BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate (required)First Aid certification (required)Commitment to family-centered care and understanding of limits of competencyExcellent communication and interpersonal teaming skillsAbility to work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary teamFlexibility to work across PPAS service streamsAbility to take direction and work independently with initiativeStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to be an effective change agent with good team building skillsOpenness to constructive criticism for growthObservational and problem-solving skillsCommitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity, Anti-racism, and Reconciliation in work with children and familiesProficiency in office technologyCompetencies in other languages are an assetCertification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an assetAdditional InformationProvincial Preschool Autism Services (PPAS) is a partnership among IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health, Hearing and Speech NS, and Autism Nova Scotia. It provides person- and family-centred services to preschoolers across Nova Scotia who are suspected of or diagnosed with autism.
