Role and Facility Information The West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking physicians to join our “Community Hospital Inpatient Physician” (CHIP) team. Full‑time or part‑time positions are available. The WCGH fosters a collaborative, team‑based environment focused on patient safety, culturally safe care, and trauma‑informed practice. Responsibilities CHIP members act as the MRP (Medical‑Related Primary) care provider for unattached and unassigned inpatients in the Family Practice service. Responsibilities include: Rounding on inpatients, arranging service transfers, and inter‑facility repatriations. Discharge planning and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service. Attendance and participation at the daily structured team report. Supporting allied teams in the hospital and community, and providing in‑person, virtual, or telephone hand‑over at discharge to patients’ primary community practitioners. Providing consult services to on‑site ambulatory clinics, including Medical Day Care, and virtual outreach consult service to rural health sites and rural and remote Indigenous communities. Participating in on‑site MRP services daily between 0700‑2200, 52 weeks a year, including statutory holidays. Scheduled afternoon/evening coverage focuses on new, unattached, and unassigned patient admissions through the ED, completing patient rounding and end‑of‑day stabilization, and responding to urgent, non‑code calls for admitted patients. On weekdays 1700‑2200, covering all inpatients with Family Physicians as MRP (excluding patients with specialists as MRP). Weekdays, weekends, and holidays 1700‑2200, responding to NH calls if the Primary Care Physician cannot be reached. Dependent on successful completion of relevant training and/or privileging criteria, there may also be opportunities to provide first call for after‑hours OR assist, providing MAID physician services, and NTP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) services. Benefits May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), pro‑rated for part‑time positions, including: Recruitment Incentive – $10,000 Fee Premium – 8.40% Annual Flat Fee – $9,669.60 Rural CME starting at $2,200/annum in years 3 & 4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $4,400/annum after 4 years.
