We support Canadian businesses in taking smart risks by delivering practical insurance solutions and exceptional service through trusted broker partnerships.The Opportunity: Working closely with business leaders and your peers, we are looking for a Sr. UW/Specialist, Contract Surety Solutions (depending on experience). Reporting to the VP Surety, Western Region, you will help build and manage the surety business in Western Canada, through collaboration with the Tokio Marine Canada Surety unit. If you enjoy the excitement, challenges and rewards that come with creating better ways to do business, this may be the opportunity for you.ResponsibilitiesUnderwritingEvaluate new risks through thorough analysis to determine acceptability and pricing.Analyze financial statements, capacity, collateral and character of new surety opportunities.Analyze and review projects, approving within given authority, or recommending approval or denial of surety bonds.Conduct ongoing review and management of the surety portfolio, ensuring accounts are up to date with action items being followed up.Collaborate with the surety team on improvements to systems and processes, with a focus on continued efficiencies.Assist underwriting efforts across the country where needed.Support marketing, legal and claims services when required.Strategy, Broker Management and Brand PromotionBuild and manage select broker relationships.Work with the surety team to build and implement broker strategy.Promote the Tokio Marine Canada brand, working closely with business units including ProFin and Commercial Insurance.Travel to various regions on a regular basis and participate in broker and industry events as required.Who You AreYou are an experienced Contract Surety underwriter with a team-oriented mindset. You are a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative culture, able to come up to speed quickly and comfortable working on a lean team.
