We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Primary Care department.Within the context of a person and family-centered model of care and in accordance with Northern Health’s vision for an idealized system of services built on a foundation of Primary Health Care, the Primary Care Occupational Therapist (OT) works collaboratively with interprofessional teams to develop a plan of care and deliver health services coordinated through the Primary Care Home. The OT practices in accordance with the professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.The OT provides competent, safe, and ethical care for people and their families in settings such as physician practices, homes, facilities, and communities, applying evidence-informed practices to achieve effective outcomes related to participation in valued activities. Through clinical assessment, treatment planning, recommended interventions, and follow-up, the occupational therapist contributes to the overall plan of care developed by the interprofessional team, informed by the person’s personal goals.The OT will facilitate individuals, along with their families and support networks, to achieve and maintain optimal health and engagement in everyday occupations by performing the duties and responsibilities outlined.Primary Care Networks are partnerships between the Divisions of Family Practice representing BC’s family physicians, regional health authorities, the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), local community partners, and other providers such as nurse practitioners. These partners work together to redesign BC’s primary and community care system for better patient and provider experiences.Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:30 to 16:30Primary And Community CareNorthern Health’s approach involves creating health care teams, including your doctor or nurse practitioner and other professionals, to provide comprehensive services. Continuity of care over time and across settings enhances care quality and improves long-term health outcomes.Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” reflecting its resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture.
