Pathologist Assistant Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is hiring a Pathologist Assistant to join our leading‑edge pathology teams in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS) provides testing at 31 sites across the lower mainland and central coast of BC. Purpose In accordance with PHSA’s Purpose, Vision, Values, and Coast Salish Teachings, this role supports the safety and quality improvement of patient and employee care. Responsibilities Perform gross examinations, detailed dissections, and dictation of surgical specimens, ensuring all crucial data is captured. Obtain and review clinical history, laboratory data, x‑rays and scans relevant to specimen grossing. Collaborate with pathologists to review challenging specimens, integrate clinical data, and take sections to produce complete pathology reports. Actively participate in Quality Management programs and provide insights to improve processes and outcomes. Communicate equipment needs to supervisors and assist with equipment evaluation and selection. Qualifications Certification or eligibility for Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA) certification. Graduation from an approved Master’s Pathologist Assistant Program and/or at least two (2) years of recent surgical pathology experience. Applicable positions: Anatomical Pathology Assistant, Pathology Assistant, Pathology Laboratory Assistant, Surgical Pathology Assistant. Skills & Knowledge Strong time‑management skills and ability to work independently within the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Effective communication with public, medical staff, and interdisciplinary team using oral, written, and computer media. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources for problem‑solving and decision‑making. Commitment to the shared responsibility of reconciliation in Canada, following TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). Knowledge of Indigenous social, economic, political, and historical realities and familiarity with anti‑racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety, and foundational documents.
