YVR is a place of connection, bringing together people, places and cargo while ensuring a safe and efficient experience for everyone.Position overviewWe have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Field Engineer in the Engineering Projects department. Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the Field Engineer will provide support to Project Engineers by executing project management responsibilities. This role involves performing project management tasks, identifying solutions, and contributing to the successful completion of YVR’s projects. The Field Engineer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing multiple facets of the project to ensure adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.Key responsibilities include: Managing project documentation using tools like Procore, including:Logging project requirements and drawingsIssuing and tracking site instructions, RFIs, and change ordersReviewing submittals and progress drawsIdentifying key lockouts from contractor schedules and reporting to OperationsPreparing and submitting lockout requests and Baggage Hall Requests for Change documentationCoordinating lockouts by working with contractors, Operations, Maintenance, and other YVR stakeholdersConducting regular site reviews to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contract documentsAttending construction sites to investigate RFIs and deficiency listsParticipating in project design meetings and providing input based on technical standardsKey qualifications include:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science or related field.Registered with Engineers and Geoscientist of BC as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or be eligible to register and registered prior to start dateAbility to read construction drawings and visualize in three dimensions.Construction engineering experience or previous work in a construction environment is an assetExperience with project scheduling and document management software (Procore or other) will be an assetExcellent communication and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges and achieve results.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts over the phone and in person.Strong communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants.
