OverviewStructural Designer - Power Generation at WSP in Canada – join our Energy subsector to support clients from coast to coast on projects ranging from small installations to multi-phase megaprojects. We provide design, engineering and environmental services that contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation, water and biodiversity protection, and low‑carbon solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Structural Designer to join WSP’s dynamic team with preference for Calgary, AB; open to candidates located at other Canadian offices.What you’ll doYou’ll verify project scope with the Lead; monitor project changes and promptly inform Lead of updates.Provide realistic time estimates for your tasks.Develop a strong understanding of WSP’s and Client’s standard drawings, specifications, general practices, and procedures.With minimal supervision, develop accurate structural engineering drawings including piling layouts/schedules, concrete layouts/details, structural steel layouts/details and architectural building drawings based on engineering sketches.Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines (Piping, Electrical) to coordinate design development and resolve issues.Contribute to the checking process by critically reviewing markups.Use various 3D/CAD software to produce Bills of Material and Pile Schedules.Implement revisions based on markups from Engineers, Checkers, and Leads.Maintain organized filing systems for drawings and models per department, project, and client guidelines.Assist in the training of less experienced drafting personnel.Visit construction sites to assist in construction reviews, if required.Foster a supportive and communicative team environment characterized by ownership and camaraderie.What you’ll bringEngineering Design & Drafting Technology (EDDT) diploma4+ years of relevant experienceProficient in AutoCAD, CADWorx, SP3D, Navis, MS Office, Bluebeam and SharePointDiligent and organized: deliver high-quality work on time and consistently meet deadlinesAdaptable multitasker: effectively juggle priorities in a fast-paced settingEnthusiastic problem-solver: embrace challenges and proactively find solutionsCommunicator and learner: clearly convey and comprehend technical, business, and administrative ideasCoachable team player: open to guidance and expertise from senior staffAbout UsWSP is one of the world’s leading professional services firms.
