The project:

As the Canadian consult team enters its 3rd year of working alongside Metrolinx on their $60bn GO Expansion scheme, we are actively looking for a head of program management, to work with the Metrolinx Stouffville project delivery team. We are searching for an inspirational director to support the delivery of a significant amount of multi-discipline rail construction.

In this role you will support the delivery teams (working alongside the Metrolinx director) in their day-to-day project management, whilst implementing continuous improvement across the portfolio of projects within the Stouffville team. You will use your proven program management and communication skills to deploy best practice, upskilling the delivery team whilst increasing delivery confidence.

    • You will maintain exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, governance, risk, stakeholder management and programme compliance standards.
    • You will ensure the programme is operating an effective risk management strategy with appropriate management actions and risk treatments established.
    • You will network and utilise the full depth and knowledge of the Mace group and centres of excellence to support the programme delivery, actively promoting knowledge share with others.
    • You will ensure operations are commercially viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives (including debt collection) and meeting organisational and legislative compliance obligations.
    • You will build and maintain internal and external relationships (e.g. clients, contractors, consultancies and other stakeholders) to foster growth and increase networks, developing internal and external communication.
    • You will adapt the full benefits of construction to production (C2P), net zero carbon, and digital & data innovation.
    • You will manage a number of senior managers, managers and assistant managers.
    • You will work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
      • You will be responsible for project budgets and ensure operations are fiscally and ethically viable and meet organisational and legislative compliance obligations.
      • You will support the operations director and other senior stakeholders to directly influence long term development of strategy for a function or business unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
      • You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.
      • You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.
      • You will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, up to C-Suite, to implement and manage our programmes.

      You’ll need to have:

      • Right to work, or ability to obtain a work permit for Canada (which Mace will manage).
      • Demonstrable program management experience on large capital rail programs.
      • Demonstrable experience working within a client program management organization.
      • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
      • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
      • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
