Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Infrastructure Lead is responsible for overseeing capital project planning, preventive maintenance planning/scheduling, and facilities infrastructure renewal. This role ensures that infrastructure projects align with strategic goals, meet regulatory standards, and support operational efficiency. The Lead collaborates with internal teams, external contractors, and Facilities Management Leadership to support the sustainable development, maintenance, and renewal of healthcare infrastructure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Capital & Construction Management
• Develop and manage the planning, budgeting, and implementation of capital construction projects to improve healthcare infrastructure.
• Lead and coordinate project design, contractor selection, permitting, and construction to ensure project milestones and budgets are met.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and risk assessments to guide decision-making for infrastructure upgrades and new builds.
• Serve as the liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any issues as they arise.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare construction standards and safety regulations, including infection control, air quality, and environmental health requirements.
Preventive Maintenance Planning
• Upgrade, establish, and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for critical building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, etc..).
• Coordinate with the Facilities Management Manager to schedule inspections, and servicing of key equipment and systems, minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.
• Lead the refinement of maintenance protocols, ensuring the timely execution of tasks and adherence to safety guidelines, healthcare standards and regulations/regulatory bodies.
• Utilize data-driven insights to optimize maintenance schedules, monitor equipment performance, and develop preventive solutions that reduce emergency repairs.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Method of Procedures (MOP’s) for mechanical systems and collaborate with subject matter experts from Occupational Health, Safety & Wellbeing and Emergency Preparedness to ensure practices align with required regulations.
Infrastructure Renewal Planning
• Develop long-term infrastructure renewal plans that address aging systems, support future growth, and enhance sustainability efforts across facilities.
• Conduct regular assessments of facility conditions and prioritize renewal projects based on risk, cost, impact, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Prepare proposals and financial analyses for infrastructure renewal projects, justifying investment needs to senior leadership.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, implementing projects that reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
• Oversee facility documentation and update infrastructure records to support renewal planning and compliance tracking.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
• Current Red Seal Endorsed Journeyman Certificate, or diploma in relevant field required
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
• P.Eng Degree preferred
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on hospital infrastructure system implementations/initiatives required.
Competencies:
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of hospital infrastructure systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, etc...
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with building codes, regulatory standards, and healthcare facility requirements.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a plus.
• Superior critical thinking skills and ability to generate ideas and fresh perspectives
• Proficient organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively problem solve
