Job Description Position Title: Business Development Manager Department: Street Sales Position Reports to: Regional Sales Manager Position Summary The Business Development Manager plays a critical role to identify new business opportunities to drive Street Sales revenue growth in alignment with Flanagan’s business objectives. This will include developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, and work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop strategies to expand our client base and increase overall market share. Key Responsibilities Create and implement business development strategies through market research, analyzing industry trends, and identify potential areas for growth. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities by conducting due diligence, measuring feasibility, and presenting recommendations to senior leaders. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Negotiate contracts, and deliver a high level of customer service excellence to drive repeat business and referrals. Achieve established sales targets and drive revenue growth through the implementation of effective sales strategies. Conduct market research, and develop market entry strategies to explore new markets and expand market reach. Analyze competitors, identify gaps, and stay abreast of industry trends and market dynamics. Foster a collaborative and high performance culture, and support the development of sales team members in the achievement of goals. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, financial metrics, and sales data to drive effective decision‑making. Partner with Territory Managers and District Sales Managers to support lost sales recovery plans. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Customer Relations, Warehouse, Purchasing, Category Management, and Routing to analyze processes to optimize service excellence and maximize profitability. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of Sales and business development experience. Strong business acumen, including a good understanding of service excellence. Excellent time‑management skills to balance strategic and analytical work with hands‑on customer interactions. Proven track record of driving sales growth and profitability, within the foodservice distribution industry preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders. Proficient using MS Office including Power Point, Excel, and Word. Strong problem solving skills, and strategic thinking to identify and capitalize on business opportunities. Deep knowledge of sales cycle and processes, business development strategies, and market analysis. Good understanding of Foodservice products including proteins, and willingness to continuously learn other key categories. Strong proficiency in data analysis and the utilization of CRM tools to drive sales performance. Ability to adapt and demonstrate resiliency to thrive in a dynamic and fast‑paced business environment. Valid Class G Driver’s License and use of a personal vehicle for business travel. Unique Requirements Must be flexible to work outside of regular business hours. Time will be split between working in an office environment and being present within the established sales district. Flexible to support significant work related regional travel 70-80% of the time. Self‑starter, goal oriented, with a can‑do attitude who thrives on achieving success.
