We are looking for a Senior Mechanical and Electrical Specialist – Cell Production based out of the St. Thomas, Ontario office.
- Plan, direct, and oversee all on-site mechanical and electrical activities, ensuring compliance with project design, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.
- Conduct detailed reviews of construction drawings, documentations and BIM models to identify potential conflicts between architectural/structural elements and mechanical/electrical systems. Ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems align with project requirements, and proactively resolve any issues to avoid delays.
- Review and coordinate relevant drawings and documentation to streamline workflows, eliminate schedule delays, and ensure smooth execution of mechanical and electrical work.
- Work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to monitor project schedules, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and oversee the approval of shop drawings.
- Supervise the on-site progress of mechanical and electrical installations to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Monitor and control material and labor costs related to mechanical and electrical components, ensuring accurate and timely quality reporting.
- Assist in resource planning and procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Provide expert direction during the testing of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring optimal operation and system functionality.
- Lead project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, and handover processes to the internal stakeholders.
- Manage the preparation and submission of project reports, including progress updates, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
- Perform any additional tasks as required to support project completion.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering or some other construction-related field of study, or an equivalent combination of technical training and industry certifications.
- 5+ years of experience in managing complex projects in Clean and Dry Rooms environment, Automotive, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in project meetings.
- Experience working on Design-Build projects.
- Able to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with CAD software, building information modelling (BIM), and other construction management tools.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Can communicate in a professional manner with engineers, architects, and construction managers both verbally and in writing.
- Has high degrees of team orientation and social competence.
- Detail oriented and will diligently ensure that components of the project meet the overall goal.
- Proficient in construction scheduling, workflows, and quality control/quality assurance.
- German language skills are considered an asset.
