Our team is made of talented individuals from various backgrounds and life experiences, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives.Job SummaryMain Street Project provides Withdrawal Management Services to individuals at two locations: 75 Martha and 146 Magnus Avenue. The primary purpose of our two facilities is to help participants begin their recovery journey through detox stabilization that decreases risk, supports accessing long‑term treatment programs, managing external recovery needs through advocacy, and expanding resource capacity. Both sites provide 24‑hour support in a safe and stable environment at no cost to the participant. Prior to admission, all participants must receive a medical clearance which provides a narrative of how Main Street Project staff can support a participant’s time in the unit.Staff conduct regular check‑ins with clients regarding their plans, goals and physical, emotional and spiritual well‑being and assist with the creation of individualized detox care plans to support and guide their individual recovery whether it is reducing the harm they may experience from their drug of choice or continuing treatment if abstinence is their goal.In accordance with Main Street Project mission, goals, policies and procedures, the Withdrawal Management Support Worker functions as a member of a team in providing services designed to assist and support all who enter the program with respect, dignity, and the goals of the participant always in mind.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEngage in intake coordination and review for incoming participants of MSP Withdrawal Management ProgramOversee intake into Withdrawal Management services including the review of medical clearance forms, completion of intake assessment forms, and medication confirmation and reviewMedication administration, tracking, and monitoringWork in collaboration in medical health scenarios with MSP Nurse Practitioner and internal WFPS resourcesRelationship building including one‑on‑one check‑ins and documentation relating to each participant on the unitSupport implementation of programming within the unit including participationAdvocation and referral assistance for participants to internal MSP Case Management program and external services and resources based on the participants’ self‑determined goalsAssist participants in planning, problem‑solving, and addressing immediate needs, including providing meals, clothing, and hygiene suppliesProvide support and resources without judgement for participantsRespond to emergency situations; assessing, intervening, and documenting critical incidents including requesting assistance when needed or when incident escalates beyond scope of role based on Main Street Project’s Policy and ProceduresEnsure participants are informed of internal and external resources, services, and programs as neededEnsure care provided meets professional standardsWork collaboratively and professionally with all external partnersMaintain accurate and confidential electronic and paper file recordsCollect and submit agency‑required statistics on time and with accuracyMaintain cleanliness of the program area by following routine cleaning schedules each shiftQualificationsRelevant experience working in the field of human services preferably with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use issuesPost‑secondary education in the field of addictions and mental health is considered an assetStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate recordsAbility to build and maintain relationships with external partnersCompassion for working with individuals who use substances and experience mental health issuesAbility to work with a client‑centered care philosophyAbility to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in day‑to‑day support of participantsKnowledge of the effects of poverty and the determinants to healthAbility to work collaboratively in a multi‑disciplinary teamKnowledge of Indigenous cultureLived Experience: Knowledge gained from personal experiences relevant to the roleKnowledge and ability to apply the principles of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, MMIWG Calls to Justice, and UNDRIPExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and writtenUnderstanding/experience working with culturally diverse populationsProficiency in Microsoft Office & online databasesSatisfactory Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search a Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check are required.
