You should be comfortable with load calculations and producing drawings in Autodesk Revit. You enjoy new challenges and performing efficiently, with clear, direct communication. You should be able to work independently or as part of a team and be ready to collaborate with senior leadership to grow in your career.What You’ll DoPrepare drawings, specifications and reports necessary to deliver a project.Design building systems in accordance with municipal or provincial building code and other applicable standards.Check layouts and services for continuity; develop mechanical systems layouts in coordination with structural, architectural, and electrical components.Develop layouts and design mechanical building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire protection, plumbing and drainage, and specialized plumbing systems).Coordinate with other disciplines as required.Create project-specific details and building sections to clarify scope and assist with interference coordination.Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing and drainage; incorporate calculations into drawings.Prepare equipment sizing calculations and equipment schedules; coordinate with project consultants to review equipment.Report design status and respond to internal/external communications; liaise with principals or project managers as needed.Coordinate design requirements with all disciplines and supervise drawings between disciplines; check for interferences with building components.Familiar with structural, architectural, and electrical models to understand space limitations and interferences.Design mechanical building systems directly in Revit/CAD; follow BIM/CAD standards.Work with clash/coordination reports, assist with model audits and maintaining model health.Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers for design support and equipment selection.Assist with distribution of work within the design team and attend project/technical meetings when required.Assist in construction administration by reviewing shop drawings, conducting site visits/reviews, and preparing change notices and site instructions.Other tasks assigned by Principals or Project Managers to support project completion.Who You Are2+ years of industry experience in mechanical building services.Diploma/Degree in mechanical building services/engineering or technologist program.Knowledge and experience with Autodesk Revit; exposure to mechanical layouts and systems.Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, or Dynamo.Strong desire for advancement and professional development.Knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, specifically Word and Excel.Experience with various mechanical systems such as heating, air conditioning, and plumbing.Familiarity with municipal and provincial codes and authorities.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work in a complex, deadline-driven environment.Innovative, detail-oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.About Smith + AndersenSmith + Andersen is a trusted, Canadian, multi-disciplinary engineering firm with 11 offices in five provinces and approximately 700 employees.
