Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency team at Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC. p>

As a Registered Nurse in Emergency at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  1. Provide emergency nursing to clients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of symptoms within an uncontrolled environment, and to unique client populations such as victims of sexual assault.
  2. Assess client needs and prioritize care requirements, often with limited information.
  3. Enhance the quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
  4. Consult, confer, and collaborate with other health care team members.
  5. Demonstrate expertise and leadership in your nursing practice.
  6. Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  1. Completion of a recognized advanced program in emergency care nursing or two (2) years’ recent, related experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a patient/family centered model of care.
  2. Broad knowledge of BCCNM's standards for nursing practice.
  3. Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated patient group.
  4. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement plans of care in relation to patient/family priorities.
  5. Demonstrated ability to assess patient responses to care, and to respond appropriately.
  6. Demonstrated ability in the management of trauma in an emergency setting.
  7. Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and deal effectively with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  8. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  9. Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to the clinical area.
  10. Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area.
  11. Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  12. Skill in techniques appropriate to emergency care nursing.
  13. Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
