PurposeResponsible for the completion of all plumbing/pipefitting work as assigned by the Supervisor, including installations, repairs, inspections, modifications and maintenance to the company and legislated standards. Work is performed on all rolling stock, buildings and facilities. This position is deemed Safety Critical and will require pre-employment testing, a safety critical medical exam and ongoing monitoring as prescribed by Transport Canada.Key Areas of AccountabilityInstalling, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and repairing equipment on rail carsConstruction and renovation plumbing as requiredYard and building maintenance repairsPlumbing repairs and installationsEVAC toilet maintenance and repairPreventative maintenance on various systems and equipmentMonthly audits of potable water systems, sanitizing and winterizing railcars as scheduledNightly mechanical inspections as requiredConducting preventive maintenance programsParticipating in on-the-job trainingTraveling on the company’s equipment, as necessary, to locations where technical expertise is requiredCompleting all work/projects as assigned within time guidelinesRecommending measures to improve work quality, productivity and safetyBeing a team player and a positive role model of company goals and valuesQualificationsEducation, Certification & LicensesSecondary school educationCompletion of a 4-year Plumber/Pipefitter apprenticeship with a minimum 2 years related work experienceQualified Red Seal PlumberFamiliarity with railcar equipment such as Evac Toilet systems, Harbart Dish Sanitizers and Rational Combi-steamer cook ovens is an assetValid driver’s licenseSkillsStrong attention to detailUnderstand and comply with all safety standards and procedures related to the specific jobIdentify safety hazards and reporting unsafe work conditions to the Health & Safety CommitteeTake necessary precaution with regards to managing workplace safetyUnderstanding and complying with all company safety policies, procedures and rulesReporting all accidents and near miss incidentsCooperating with workplace inspections and any investigationsWork EnvironmentRail industrial siteOccasional travel may be requiredRail industrial site- indoor/outdoor working environment24/7 operation that may require varied work schedulesBenefitsTwo annual complimentary rail pass (beginning your 2nd year)Friends and family rail tickets and packages discount100% employer paid extended health, dental, and visionEmployer RRSP and/or TFSA Matching ProgramShort term incentive plan3 weeks’ vacation to startHigh performing and supportive teamHourly Wage$45.81/hourArmstrong Collective, Rocky Mountaineer and Canyon Spirit are an equal opportunity employer, driven by our values of creating meaningful moments, being one team, and achieving extraordinary outcomes.
