Electrical Technician or Technologist – Hydropower Testing & Commissioning Welcome to CIMA+, where people are at the heart of everything we do. Job Description As a Technician/Technologist, you will play an active role in the construction and reconstruction of hydroelectric power plants. Working on the design of high‑power switchgear and controlgear, you will showcase your technical skills within power generation, hydroelectricity and distribution projects. This hybrid role can be based anywhere in the Greater Montreal area, Eastern Townships or Baie‑Comeau regions, with flexible work‑from‑home options. Primary Responsibilities Design electrical power systems and their layout for hydropower plant projects. Develop power system diagrams and drawings for switchgear and controlgear, including medium‑voltage cabinets, control panels and power distribution centres. Prepare detailed drawings, top‑view, elevation, and various layout diagrams for project deliverables. Calculate equipment sizing, select power cable gauges and perform or validate dimensioning calculations. Select materials and calculate quantities. Coordinate electrical work with other engineering disciplines (structural, civil, control & protection, auxiliary mechanics, heavy mechanics, building and architecture). Qualifications College Diploma in Electrical Engineering. More than five (5) years of experience. Knowledge of Hydro‑Québec or other public utility standards (asset). Knowledge of power‑distribution design methods and practices. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD. Fluent in oral and written French; professional proficiency in English. Familiarity with applicable design standards and codes, including the Quebec Electrical Code. Resourceful, motivated, enthusiastic and a strong commitment to delivering successful projects.
