In this position, you will contribute to the operation of the hospital through day‑to‑day maintenance of essential support services (under the supervision of an assigned Staff Pharmacist and overall supervision by the Manager of Operations). You’ll be a strong relationship builder, communicate effectively with peers across the entire organization and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. You are highly organized, have great interpersonal skills, and adapt well in a dynamic environment. You can work independently as well as part of an inter‑professional team. On a practical level, you will Be responsible for medication dispensing, patient‑specific and ward stock replenishment Perform sterile and non‑sterile compounding Handle and account for controlled substances Manage inventory Learn skills required to obtain the best possible medication history (BPMH) to facilitate medication reconciliation Qualifications Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program at the Community College level Part A Registered Pharmacy Technician (R.Ph.T) designation from the Ontario College of Pharmacists or working toward the RPhT designation with OCP Experience in hospital pharmacy strongly preferred Knowledge of aseptic technique and experience with IV admixtures preferred Demonstrate knowledge of current concepts of hospital pharmacy practice Demonstrate knowledge in pharmaceutical math Accurate and efficient typing skills Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and ability to support basic troubleshooting Good knowledge of the operation and standards of practice for pharmacy technicians in a hospital setting Knowledge of equipment such as unit‑dose prepackaging machines and automated dispensing units preferred Good written and verbal communication skills Adaptable and well organized Bilingualism in French/English an asset What We Offer Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals.
