Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Automation Software Engineer to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in PLC programming—particularly with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3—and a track record of developing automation solutions for industrial applications. This role is hands‑on, focusing on designing, programming, and optimizing automation systems to meet client‑specific requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop and program PLCs using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, ensuring seamless integration with diverse hardware. Design and implement HMI interfaces for operator interaction and process control. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements and deliver automation solutions. Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal system performance. Create and maintain thorough documentation for system designs, programming, and testing. Travel to customer sites (US/Europe) for troubleshooting and commissioning as needed—must be eligible and able to travel immediately. Interpret electrical drawings and perform electrical troubleshooting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Software Engineering, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in automation engineering, with a focus on Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 programming. Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages (e.g., Structured Text). Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Modbus, TCP/IP, and EthernetIP. Strong problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Skills Familiarity with AI‑based vision systems and robotics integration. Experience in designing and deploying custom automation equipment.
