What You’ll Be Doing Ensure adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, Stackpole International policies, and other industry standards. Reports to the Manufacturing Manager. Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Project, and Process Management teams to support the design, build, and commissioning of new automation equipment, including assembly lines, robotic cells for material handling, test equipment, and similar systems. Lead and mentor a team of Controls Specialists. Participate in design review and report daily progress for meetings. Support labor cost estimates and coordinate in‑house and subcontractor actions as needed. Complete run‑at‑rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations. Develop and maintain programming checklists to ensure program validation. Provide technical support and troubleshooting as needed. Offer guidance to foster personal development. Support the creation of training requirements. Determine budget requirements for new products and design tools. Adhere to JE Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production Systems. Set and uphold standards for controls, programming, and electrical design. Knowledge of electrical design, component selection, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Plan and coordinate the installation of new automated assembly equipment. Align with short and long‑term objectives of the Controls Team. Program PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision and motion systems, safety controllers, etc. Set up controls networks (Ethernet/IP, Ethercat, etc.). Recommend processes, procedures, components, and methods for standardization. Collaborate with Program Managers to establish schedules and monitor project timelines. Continuously improve standards and systems to enhance overall performance. Travel among Johnson Electric locations as required. Other duties as assigned. What We’re Looking For A technical degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar and relevant industrial experience. 5+ years experience in an automation/controls environment. Hands‑on technical skills with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Expert level in PLC programming (Omron NJ/Allen Bradley) and robot programming (Fanuc/Yaskawa/Kuka). Knowledge of Labview based systems and ability to program them. Understanding of SQL databases and related software. Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict management, and problem‑solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication across all levels. High integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation. Familiarity with automotive systems and quality requirements per IATF 16949/ISO 9001.
