Fraud Detection Analyst, Tangerine Fraud Operations

OverviewTangerine, Canada’s leading direct bank, is seeking a Fraud Analyst to support our Fraud Operations team. This role focuses on detecting and preventing credit card fraud, protecting customers and the bank’s profitability.ResponsibilitiesChampion a customer‑focused culture, deepening client relationships and leveraging cross‑bank knowledge.Investigate questionable credit card activity, proactively contact customers and block accounts to halt further fraudulent activity.Report and elevate fraud trends and activities directly to the management team.Minimize fraud losses through detection, investigation and mitigation, contributing to the organization’s profitability.Analyze alerts from fraud detection tools, assess the probability of fraud and decide whether to block an account or contact the cardholder.Collaborate with the team on large‑scale fraud attacks, identifying points of compromise and securing other affected cards before further fraudulent activity occurs.Share fraud trend information to ensure large‑scale trends are identified and acted on quickly.Communicate with branches and other bank departments to resolve inquiries related to fraud issues and/or complaints.Support the Bank’s annual Fraud Plan and business objectives by maintaining required service‑level standards.Apply the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.Operate independently on a daily basis, handling a variety of fraud issues received from customers and other lines of business.Deliver fraud detection and prevention services for dollar‑to‑dollar and credit card portfolios.Follow the customer problem resolution process, taking ownership of customer concerns and resolving issues at first point of contact.Achieve established daily, weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs).Maintain attention to detail and recognize risks to the bank.QualificationsStrong active listening skills and appropriate acknowledgment statements.Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.Proven interpersonal, communication and problem resolution skills.Ability to navigate between multiple applications/systems.Working knowledge of application systems that support debit/credit card and alternate delivery channel products, including TSYS, AS400, PRM, etc.Experience with basic PC applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Lotus Notes).Strong critical thinker with good verbal and written communication skills.Previous retail banking and/or advice/call centre experience is an asset.High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education in business or related disciplines is a plus.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to make effective decisions.Bilingualism is required as this is a customer‑facing role.Customer service experience required, preferable in the financial services industry.Working ConditionsStandard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours are common.Use of a headset is required.Hybrid environment with partial term and fixed shifts to support the fraud operations department.Working outside of standard hours and statutory/holiday hours is required.Hours of operation: Monday to Sunday, 8 am – 12 midnight; hours are subject to change depending on business needs.Overnight team works 10 pm – 8 am Monday to Sunday.Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada. #J-18808-Ljbffr
