Microsoft 365 Purview and Modern Work Security Specialist

Position Title: Microsoft 365 Purview and Modern Work Security SpecialistLocation: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)Overview:Charter is currently seeking one (1) experienced Microsoft 365 Purview and Modern Work Security Specialist to join our team starting August 2025. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of IT security experience, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 security and compliance. Previous experience implementing and governing Microsoft Purview compliance solutions, (i.e., Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and eDiscovery) across key Microsoft 365 services is required. Strong experience deploying and managing Microsoft 365 E5 compliance and security features (i.e. Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft Extra ID/Azure AD) is also required. Location: Vancouver, BC(Hybrid) Term: 6 months. Strong possibility of extension. Candidates must reside in the Vancouver BC area for the duration of the project.Qualifications and Experience:Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance solutions, such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and eDiscoveryStrong experience implementing and managing Microsoft 365 E5 security features, including Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)Experience designing and implementing Microsoft 365 compliance and security policies in a regulated environment.Experience configuring and managing Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Defender for EndpointExperience conducting a risk assessment and gap analysis to identify and mitigate security and compliance risksExperience developing and maintaining documentation, governance playbooks, and training materials for end users and administratorsExperience contributing to continuous improvement by providing metrics, reporting, and knowledge sharing across teamsProven ability to collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and secure collaboration strategies.Active industry certifications are considered as an asset.Excellent communication (written and verbal) in English is required.Must be authorized to work in Canada.Note: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
