Overview Job Purpose Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Logistics Manager oversees all domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with corporate objectives. The Logistics Manager brings deep expertise in logistics, ERP systems, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement methodologies. This role develops and maintains strong relationships with freight forwarders and shipping companies, tracks upcoming sales orders, and proactively plans logistics to ensure on-time deliveries. The manager works with the MRP system to update shipments and receive raw materials, organizes and plans shipments of new products to customers, and collaborates closely with Operations, Sales, Assembly, Quality Inspection and Customer Service teams to meet production and customer requirements. The Logistics Manager also leads the receiving function, ensuring proper handling of incoming materials and supporting customer service shipments and supplier-direct deliveries. In addition, the Logistics Manager is responsible for managing logistics personnel, providing leadership, training, and performance oversight to ensure operational excellence and a high level of team engagement. This includes setting clear goals, monitoring KPIs, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Manage and develop the shipping and logistics team through effective training, guidance, and performance management. Oversee all domestic and international shipments ensuring accurate packaging, documentation, and timely delivery. Effectively schedule, plan, and lead a logistics team while managing multiple competing priorities to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of services. Ensure compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international shipping regulations, including IATA Dangerous Goods and Transport Canada standards. Manage relationships with customs brokers in the U.S. and Canada, ensuring regulatory compliance and coordinating with the compliance team on USMCA, CUSMA and duty relief. Prepare and submit documentation for Letter of Credit shipments, collaborating with corporate to ensure timely and accurate payment. Coordinate transportation of controlled and dangerous goods, ensuring adherence to airline, trucking, and export regulations, including Denied Party screening. Handle Chamber of Commerce notarizations and Embassy endorsements; generate shipping documents and process transactions in ERP systems; file CAED for exports. Certified in lithium battery shipping and trained in handling dangerous goods. Administer ERP/MRP systems for order tracking, inventory accuracy, and delivery scheduling. Review and prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs declarations. Provide timely freight quotes to support sales opportunities and orders. Build and maintain strategic relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, using advanced negotiation skills to optimize cost and delivery performance. Champion Lean initiatives and align logistics strategies with the corporate operational model through proactive planning and insightful reporting, driving measurable improvements in efficiency, cost control, and service quality. Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering to ensure product and shipment compliance. Manage logistics for customer returns and reverse shipments. Submit insurance claims for goods lost or damaged in transit. Ensures transportation regulations and restrictions are respected (Dangerous Goods, airline and trucking), work with Compliance to manage controlled goods in and out of Canada and to all international locations. Verifies Denied Party compliance during shipment. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in shipping and logistics, with a minimum of 3 years in a people management role. Certification in Dangerous Goods Regulations and lithium battery shipping. Strong knowledge and experience working with customs guidelines and procedures, import/export regulations, USMCA and CUSMA, international traffic issues, shipping Dangerous Goods and packing specifications. Strong proficiency and experience working within complex ERP systems (MS D365). Proven experience in international logistics and trade compliance. Experience working within environments guided by Operating Models including Lean / Six Sigma methodologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to provide guidance, feedback, and directions to shipping and receiving team. Effective listening and verbal communication skills for dealing with staff, fellow managers, suppliers, shipping providers. Ability to work in a busy work environment in a cooperative manner. Up-to-date knowledge of safe work practices, including WHMIS compliance. Forklift and order picker license required. Controlled Goods Certification Strong negotiation skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
