If you have extensive experience as a Controls Engineer, led technical projects, and are eager to develop your leadership skills, you could be the perfect fit.The Senior Robotics & Controls Specialist will collaborate with the Controls Engineering Manager, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional teams to support the vision of the Robotics and Controls group by providing insights and ideas on improvements that enhance team effectiveness and efficiency.What Would a Typical Day Look Like?Provide expertise and guidance during project initiation to develop specifications and design direction.Design and develop code for automation equipment (PLCs, HMIs, Robots, Vision Systems) aligning with functional requirements and standards.Lead controls projects to meet functional targets, budgets, and delivery schedules, ensuring excellent customer experience.Drive best control solutions, applying standards and working with cross-functional teams.Implement engineering best practices through critical thinking and risk management.Lead project meetings to discuss risks, challenges, and approaches.Support project updates, forecasting, and risk management proactively.Coach and mentor team members in programming, commissioning, and testing.Assist in hardware selection, testing, and integration.Debug and commission control systems at our facility and customer sites.Conduct system testing to ensure compliance with specifications.Travel to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning, and training (up to 20%).Collaborate to enhance controls technology for safety, functionality, and cost-efficiency.Ensure adherence to budgets and schedules.Work with customers and teams to deliver comprehensive automation systems.Prepare documentation, manuals, and provide technical support and training.Note: The role may require working outside normal hours and traveling within North America.What Qualifies You?10+ years of controls programming and commissioning experience.5+ years of leadership in large projects and teams.Degree/Diploma in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience.Experience as a technical lead on controls projects.Familiarity with PackML, Food & Beverage, or Packaging standards is a plus.Machine Vision, AI, Cognex, or Keyence experience is an asset.Knowledge of machine building, iRVision, conveyance, Servos, VFDs.Proficiency with Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Factory Talk View, Fanuc RoboGuide, and Siemens TIA Portal.Understanding of pneumatics, electrical schematics, and industrial networking protocols.Knowledge of CSA Safety Standards related to Cobots.Reliable transportation and ability to travel.Physical DemandsAbility to stand, walk, sit, and use hands regularly.Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.What We OfferCompetitive benefits, 401K/RRSP, health, dental, vision.Career growth and professional development opportunities.Experience with cutting-edge automation technologies.Inclusive, diverse work environment.About ConvergixConvergix designs, engineers, and integrates hardware and software for automation across industries.
