Responsibilities Demonstrate an in‑depth knowledge of curriculum and assessment practices Cultivate an engaging learning environment focused on the unique needs of all learners Work collaboratively to build meaningful relationships between home, school, and community Build an environment where learners have an active role and voice Demonstrate instructional leadership Demonstrate consistent use of research‑informed pedagogy and leadership practices Create a safe and caring learning environment in which learners are challenged, engaged, supported, and successful Model personal commitment to learning while fostering a culture of reflection, self‑awareness, and growth Facilitate and promote the development of leadership capacity in others Demonstrate effective management strategies Facilitate the school‑wide opportunities for students to explore, engage, and experience career learning Qualifications Master’s degree in an area relevant to school‑based leadership Possession of a current Alberta Teaching Certificate In Alberta, teachers designated in principal or acting principal roles must hold the Alberta Leadership Certification (temporary Leadership Certification may be granted, but the individual must meet full requirements within 3 years) A minimum of three years as a successful school‑based administrator Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as verbal/written communication skills Demonstrated ability to remain current with information technologies Please note: Fluency in French is not a requirement; however, it is considered an asset.
