Oriole has been working diligently for over38 years in the industry and continues to refine its business culture, landscapeconstruction and horticultural maintenance processes.Job SummaryThe landscape construction crew leader will perform tasks including readingplans and job packages, site staging, ordering materials, coordinatingsubtrades, directing and training staff on job site tasks, communicating andworking with the project manager and the client. The crew leader willcomplete heavy landscape construction, site demolitions & excavations, hard& soft installations and project budget reviews.Job Duties• Comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations (see OHSAS. 27: Duties of Supervisor).• Review construction sites to identify and eliminate potential hazards.• Responsible for ensuring all required PPE and safety equipment is usedby crew members.• Responsible for job site safety inspections and toolbox talks.• Train crew members to improve craftsmanship in horticulture,hardscapes, softscapes, carpentry, masonry, equipment operation &maintenance.• Train crew members on optimal workflow to maximize efficiency andproductivity.• Complete performance reviews with lead hand/driver and laborers.• Complete daily progress reports and meetings on site with projectmanager.• Ability to drive a 5-ton or larger truck with trailer.• Attentive to CBYD (Call Before You Dig) locate reports.• Craftsperson on-site as required.Qualifications and Requirements• High school diploma or equivalent• Valid Driver’s License• 10 years or more landscape construction experience• Proficient at reading drawings, details, and following job packages• Excavator, skid steer, articulated loader operation experience• Attention to detail: job requires being careful about detail andthorough in completing work tasks• Dependability: must be reliable, responsible and dependable infulfilling obligations• Stress Tolerance: job requires maintaining composure, and dealingcalmly and effectively in high-stress situations• Communication: job requires daily reports using a smart phone andclear communication skills for articulating information to theoperations manager, logistics driver & project manager• Organization: job requires excellent organization skills and ability tocomplete projects within given deadlines• Training: job requires being experienced at working with and trainingstaff on job skillsLines of CommunicationWorking ConditionsThis is a full-time, seasonal position with the opportunity for a non-seasonalposition should it become available. Employees will be working outdoors in alltypes of weather. The workday starts at 7am on site and 6:30am in the yard.The hours will range from 45 to 55 per week, Monday to Friday and optionalSaturdays. The company works to provide long weekends off for allemployees.This position requires an elevated level of personal organization andmotivation, and social intelligence. It is highly physical in nature and requiresthe applicant to be able to lift weights of up to 50lbs and includes frequentrepetitive tasks.
