Panel Designer

Join to apply for the Panel Designer role at Synectics Inc. Overview We are seeking an experienced Panel Designer to join our growing design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate and efficient engineered wood product (EWP) designs for residential construction projects, including walls and floors. This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of designers and engineers on a range of residential projects while ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality in every design. Key Responsibilities Interpret and analyze blueprints for residential projects to develop accurate designs and identify potential issues. Produce detailed floor and wall layouts, takeoffs, load calculations, and beam designs using CAD software. Develop 3D models and layouts for construction and costing purposes. Detail wood structural connections and ensure compliance with design and building standards. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to clarify design details and material requirements. Review and audit designs before final release to production to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain clear communication and organization across multiple ongoing projects. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mandatory). Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineered wood products, construction, or light‑frame wood truss design. Strong understanding of wood structure engineering, including wall and floor panel systems. Proficiency with design software such as Mitek, AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit. Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian building codes and residential construction practices. Strong analytical, mathematical, and computer skills (MS Office). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
