Join our vision of a low-carbon world and help make positive changeWe are seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to become part of our Hydropower and Dams team in our Niagara Falls office. This is a position for which your focus will be to support and execute hydro and dam-related projects and ensure technical excellence within the existing team. You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing engineering services to large and small hydropower and dams owners in Ontario, across Canada, and globally.In the Niagara Falls office you will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most exciting hydropower and dam projects worldwide. You will be part of a Hydropower team that includes experts that are respected and recognized across the industry, and you can spend your out of office life in a beautiful small city, rich with activities that draw millions of visitors every year to the falls and to the local theatre, music festivals, concerts and fine dining. Niagara Falls is just a quick drive to Ontario’s wine country and the Toronto/Mississauga area and allows easy access to the state of New York in the US.As a successful candidate, you will:Perform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and provide input to the design team on layouts and designsLeading and managing the process of engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completionInterfacing with other engineering disciplines involved in projects, as requiredTaking ownership of the high level technical deliverablesDeveloping preliminary and detailed designs as well as overseeing and guiding the preparation of mechanical drawings and engineering specifications for constructionBeing an active participant in technical design reviews and calculation checksProviding mentoring, coaching, technical guidance and quality assurance to other engineers in order to ensure the technical adequacy of engineering workPrepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplinesManage and review engineering work packages associated with project deliverables including management of project budgets and schedulePrepare, review or approve technical deliverables such as equipment designs, specifications, data sheets, calculations, etc.Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertiseProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimatesPrepare, review or approve project standard specifications and design criteriaProvide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawingsParticipate in and contribute to design reviewsAssist in the commissioning of systems on site as requiredFollow company standard quality proceduresPrepare or provide input to proposals in the area of expertiseYou bring to the role:A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineeringA Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering would be considered an assetRegistration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or other Canadian Province (candidates with strong international experience and eligibility for P Eng. designation in Canada will be considered)A minimum of 15years of professional experience preferably roating equipmentExperience working on hydropower projects (i.e., dams and gates) nice to haveProficiency with Computer Design Tools (Mathcad, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks) will be considered an assetExperience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programsKnowledge of Canadian and provincial codes and standardsStrong client focus and a desire to achieve results including the ability to manage multiple priorities and time linesExperience in leading small and large mechanical teams in multi-disciplinary projectsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsGood planning and organizational skillsAbility to function with minimal supervisionAbility to delegate tasks and effectively supervise engineers and designersCollaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsDon't meet every single requirement?
