Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation WSP’s Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector supports clients from coast to coast, from small installations to large integrated megaprojects. We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our teams in any Canadian office, with a preference for Calgary, AB; Moncton, NB; and Kitchener, ON. As a member of the Energy division you will tackle complex projects for independent power producers, municipal and investor‑owned utilities, contractors and developers, working on a wide range of technologies including biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery storage and hydro. What you can expect to do here Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities. Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations. Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data; interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers. Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines. Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems. Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs. Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers. What you’ll bring to WSP University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience within the EPCM environment, ideally focused on industrial facilities. Must be a currently licensed professional engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in your province of practice. Experience within the consulting environment desired. Previous experience with power plant or renewable natural gas plant design desired. Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx.
