In this role, you will be responsible for performing and executing laboratory techniques, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate and efficient geochemical analyses.Execute laboratory techniques independently, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to carry out geochemical analysesOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot various geochemistry instruments and equipmentPerform routine instrument checks for compliance and accurate testing resultsDocument information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record booksRecord and interpret results in a timely manner, presenting findings to senior colleaguesAssist in preparing method SOPs, validation protocols, and reportsInventory and manage laboratory supplies to ensure availabilityImplement and maintain safe work practices, enforcing a clean and organized working environmentAssist in monitoring and checking the completion of daily health and safety checks, monthly meetings, and emergency protocolsCollaborate with team members to optimize laboratory processes and efficiencyQualificationsBSc. or Diploma in a Science-related program, or equivalent experience/trainingMinimum 1-3 years of relevant laboratory work experience, preferably in geochemistryProficiency in operating and maintaining various geochemistry instrumentsStrong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures specific to geochemistryExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in using computer software, including Word, Excel, and OutlookDemonstrated problem-solving abilities and good judgment in identifying and resolving issuesStrong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions accuratelyExcellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentGood hand-eye coordination when handling samples and laboratory equipmentKnowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality control proceduresAbility to work well under pressure and manage conflicting demandsFlexibility to work extended hours and shifts as requiredWillingness to travel to other locations occasionallyCommitment to compliance with company Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policiesAdditional InformationSalary:$20.50 per hourSGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
