IT Jobs in Canada Job Description: Live Assets is hiring a Database Consultant for one of its clients. This role involves leading the modernization and re-architecture of a large-scale PostgreSQL database hosted on Azure, which powers the client’s main in-house PHP application. Responsibilities Analyze business requirements and design database solutions to support applications and reporting needs. Provide guidance on database architecture, migrations, and cloud-based database solutions. Collaborate with application developers to ensure database best practices are followed. Document database architecture, standards, and processes. Monitor database health, perform backups, and support disaster recovery planning. Recommend and help implement a new cloud-native PostgreSQL solution (Neon, Supabase, or similar). Design and architect the new database for scalability, speed, and reliability. Lead the migration from the current database to the new environment. Establish best practices for security, backup, and maintenance. Necessary Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 7+ years of experience in database design, administration, and architecture. Expertise in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL). Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus. Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Aurora, Neon, Supabase, etc.). Strong understanding of database security, backup/recovery, and high availability. Experience with performance tuning and optimization for large-scale databases. Nice to have Certifications in database technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA Certification, AWS Database Specialty) #J-18808-Ljbffr
