Operates and performs adjustments to laboratory equipment and instruments. Position Overview Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality Control, the Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the completion of Finished Goods testing of cards, readers, capillary tubes and providing testing support for other Siemens Healthineers departments when required. Responsibilities Follow written procedures for Finished Goods Testing for epoc® test cards, capillary tubes and reader final test and maintain appropriate records for each activity. Routine performance checks including Adaptive Process Control, Lifetime, incoming material verification and validation testing. Plan and execute more complex testing requirements for all engineering departments, complaint, software and Research and Development. Carry out advanced maintenance and complex troubleshooting of the Quality Control Laboratory instruments/equipment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Quality Control Laboratory. Provide guidance and mentorship to the Quality Control Laboratory Technicians on Finished Goods testing, routine performance checks and complex testing requirements. Provide complex blood preparations training and advanced instrument troubleshooting training for Quality Control Laboratory Technicians. Participate in Quality Control Laboratory process improvement efforts. Participate with documentation updates and reviews. Support the Epocal Employee Blood Donor Program. Maintain Test Laboratory consumable inventory and initiate orders. Follow daily test schedule as directed by the Lead Hand Quality Control Specialist and Supervisor. Regularly interact with Engineers/Analyst, Equipment Technicians, Chemical Preparation Laboratory personnel, Research and Development and Manufacturing personnel. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience Post-secondary education in science or medical related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience. Experience as a Quality Control Laboratory Technician. Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and/or on different/rotating shifts as required. Routine, detailed nature of card/reader and capillary tube testing and analyses. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment while satisfying personnel responsibilities. Ready to speak up about concerns. Requires minimal supervision to achieve goals. Physical: Manual dexterity; ability to distinguish between colours; combination of sitting and standing; extended periods of detailed visual inspection involving regular and occurring exposure to blood from screened donors. Work involves inventorying and processing cards, which requires walking, bending, stretching and occasionally lifting boxes up to 30 lbs. Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience Experience in a regulated industry. Experience with testing of blood and use of lab equipment. Phlebotomy skill. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. The Base Pay Range For This Position Is Min $50,500 - Max $93,500 Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
