Join to apply for the Pharmacist role at Michael Garron Hospital.Position Overview:As a member of the pharmacy team, you are responsible for daily activities related to medication therapy management, pharmaceutical care, teaching students and staff, supervising technical personnel, and distribution activities.Currently available roles include: Medicine/Float.Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care in drug therapy management to achieve positive outcomes in medicine, surgery, or critical care, and support other areas as needed.Focus on electronic verification of medication orders, patient assessment, resolving drug-related problems, patient education, medication reconciliation, and drug information provision.Support drug distribution activities, including weekend, evening, and on-call duties.Participate in educational programs, professional development, and hospital-sponsored projects, including teaching and continuing education.Develop, revise, and implement standards, protocols, procedures, and guidelines related to drug therapy and pharmacy practice.Educational Services/Professional DevelopmentProvide in-service lectures and written information to nursing units and medical staff.Support drug information needs of healthcare professionals and committees.Participate in pharmaceutical care development and prepare Pharmacy Bulletins.Deliver clinical presentations and serve as preceptor or tutor for students and interns.Maintain current continuing education certificates through various activities and external programs.Drug Distribution ServicesSupervise pharmacy assistants in dispensary duties.Manage inventory of investigational, narcotic, and controlled drugs, resolving discrepancies and ensuring safe destruction of expired stock.Ensure medications are delivered timely to patient care areas.Review medication lists and supervise manufacturing and pre-packaging processes.Administrative/OtherReport medication discrepancies, participate in adverse drug reaction reporting, and train new staff and students.Participate in formulary management, hospital committees, and safety programs.Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.Attend departmental meetings and facilitate staff conferences.Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.QualificationsBachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.Registration as a Part A Pharmacist in Ontario and Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada certification.Hospital pharmacy residency or equivalent is an asset.ExperiencePreferred 1 year of clinical hospital pharmacy experience.Experience in oncology is an asset.Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of pharmacy technology systems such as CPOE, eMAR, and pharmacy information systems.Additional InformationMembership in CSHP or similar is an asset.Must adhere to hospital policies, safety, and occupational health standards. #J-18808-Ljbffr
