Tax Advisor & Preparer – Personal & Corporate Returns Company: FBC Farm and Small Business Tax Consultants Location: Port Elgin, Ontario. Hybrid – traveling to meet members; in‑office as required. Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent Position Overview As a Tax Advisor, you will meet with members at their place of business, understand their financial situation, and provide tailored tax strategies that minimize taxes in the short and long term. You will introduce members to our full range of services—including bookkeeping, legal assistance, payroll, and financial/estate planning—supporting their needs in areas such as retirement planning, cash‑flow management, and other tax‑related matters. Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional tax and accounting advice to members. Review and file complex personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns. Develop and implement tax planning strategies for a variety of clients, including farm and small‑business owners. Maintain strong client relationships as a primary contact for key accounts. Conduct member reviews and support seasonal and year‑round reconciliations and filings, including GST/HST, T1, T2, and other applicable tax returns. Foster strong relationships with members and secure referrals. Recognize member needs and connect them with our other domain experts within the company and network. Qualifications Education and Experience At least one full corporate tax cycle of experience; three or more cycles is preferred. Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations (T1, T2, T3) is preferred. Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and accounting teams. Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software such as Taxprep/IFirm, Xero, or Profile. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel. Experience with agriculture and/or preparing tax returns for farms and small businesses is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Superior client‑service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Consistent ability to meet deadlines. Dedicated to providing financial support that empowers members. Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to analyze unique scenarios and provide customized recommendations. Other Requirements This role requires travel; a reliable vehicle is necessary.
