We are looking for a Senior Mechanical and Electrical Specialist – Forming & Aging based out of the St. Thomas, Ontario office.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical & Electrical Specialist to lead the construction management of mechanical and electrical systems across our projects. In this role, you will ensure that all operations meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety codes, contributing to the successful delivery of our high-quality projects.

This is an in-person position in the St. Thomas office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, direct, and oversee all on-site mechanical and electrical activities, ensuring compliance with project design, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.
  2. Conduct detailed reviews of construction drawings, documentation, and BIM models to identify potential conflicts between architectural/structural elements and mechanical/electrical systems.
  3. Review and coordinate relevant drawings and documentation to streamline workflows, eliminate schedule delays, and ensure smooth execution of mechanical and electrical work.
  4. Work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to monitor project schedules, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and oversee the approval of shop drawings.
  5. Supervise the on-site progress of mechanical and electrical installations to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  6. Monitor and control material and labor costs related to mechanical and electrical components, ensuring accurate and timely quality reporting.
  7. Assist in resource planning and procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  8. Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  9. Provide expert direction during the testing of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring optimal operation and system functionality.
  10. Lead project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, and handover processes to the internal stakeholders.
  11. Manage the preparation and submission of project reports, including progress updates, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  12. Perform any additional tasks as required to support project completion.

Desired Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of technical training and industry certifications.
  2. P.Eng. or P.E. preferred.
  3. 5+ years of experience managing complex projects in Clean and Dry Rooms environment, Automotive, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  4. Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in project meetings.
  5. Experience working on Design-Build projects.
  6. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  7. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Familiarity with CAD software, building information modelling (BIM), and other construction management tools.
  9. Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  12. German language skills are considered an asset.
