Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer for full-time employment based in the Kitchener, ON office. This is a great opportunity for a Municipal Engineer with design experience who is seeking a role that allows them to expand their experience and responsibility. The appropriately qualified candidate will have a proven track record in design, design reviews, proposal writing, report writing, and client liaison with the experience and enthusiasm to enhance and grow a municipal design team.

The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers primarily within the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sector. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Lead existing municipal technical design staff for projects including:
    1. Sewer and watermain design/replacement/reconstruction
    2. Roadway and intersection improvements
    3. Site servicing design
    4. Potable water pumping, transmission, storage, and distribution systems
    5. Sanitary drainage and pumping
  2. Client liaison and relationship management
  3. Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects, including correspondence, reports, proposals, expressions of interest, and specifications
  4. Perform Contract Administration duties, including contractor interaction, progress payment certificates, and convene progress site meetings
  5. Communicate and work with other project team members in Kitchener and other regional offices to provide quality service to clients on projects of varying scope and complexity
  6. Support new business development
  7. Liaise with and assist other departments and offices in the provision of design services to other clients, as applicable
  8. Perform financial and budget control duties on projects
  9. Respond to contractor and public inquiries
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  2. 6+ years of related experience in municipal civil engineering design and CAD
  3. P. Eng designation in Ontario
  4. Design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks, and detail design
  5. Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2016
  6. Proficient with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Stormwater Management procedures and design
  2. Experience in transportation design/reconstruction projects
  3. Experience in land use planning and land development or site plan preparation and studies
  4. Experience with design of trenchless methods for installation of small and large diameter watermains and sewers
  5. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
  6. Familiarity with software for modelling water transmission/distribution systems
  7. Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment systems
  8. Certification such as PMP or related are desirable
  9. Good time management skills
  10. Construction inspection experience
  11. Excellent attention to detail
  12. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
  13. Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  14. Ability to work and communicate with clients, contractors, and other AECOM staff
