LOCATION: Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in the Greater Toronto Area of Canada, working in hours that align to ET.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, deploy, and manage the infrastructure that our client’s applications run on. This role will be responsible for supporting the technology delivery team in acting as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure to architect and then (using Infrastructure as Code platforms) to build and operate app platforms at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design cloud infrastructure components (network, compute, storage, orchestration, security, etc.) based on application architecture and requirements (typically containerized microservice applications).
  2. Build and deploy these components using an infrastructure as code platform such as Terraform.
  3. Set up CI/CD pipelines.
  4. Mentor other team members on good practices and problem resolution.
  5. Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, infrastructure, and frameworks to ensure our systems/processes follow market standards.
  6. Be ready to work as the ultimate subject matter expert (SME) during incidents and support the team on resolution and root cause analysis.
  7. Have the opportunity to design and implement processes and tools with our team.
  8. Work with the latest technologies in the AWS/GCP/Azure and keep your skills current while you innovate.
  9. Work in a small team environment within a large, stable, and successful company that is growing fast.
  10. Lead the creation of automation and deployments pipelines for applications to all environments.
  11. Deploy new and existing applications to production and lower environments as per the release schedule.
  12. Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues and help support applications in all environments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 5+ years of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or equivalent experience.
  2. Understanding of network topology and creating & organizing secure network communications between different resources in a virtual private cloud (VPC) based on client & security requirements.
  3. Understanding of Terraform or another IaC language is a must.
  4. Understanding of GCP is required.
  5. Experience with building/deploying/managing AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  6. Strong experience with CI/CD and tools like Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, and GitLab.
  7. Ability to provide expert opinion on infrastructure monitoring tooling and best practices.
  8. Experience working with containerized microservice applications.
  9. Ability to consult on cost effective solutions for the present, and how they will evolve in the future as needs scale.
  10. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure security practices.
  11. Ability to analyze metrics from distributed applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
  12. Experience with Agile processes, testing, and code review.
  13. Strong experience with scripting - shell, Python, etc.
  14. Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  15. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
