JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
The SAP Extensibility Lead has accountability for technical extensibility direction within BC Hydro's SAP cloud-based enterprise technology landscape. The Extensibility Lead works closely with other technical teams, functional teams, and external service providers to ensure effective technical operability and extensibility, including robust functionality, reliability, performance, security, scalability, and integrity of the SAP platform.
Note that BC Hydro's SAP environment hosts many core business processes including Customer Care, Enterprise Asset Management, Supply Chain, Finance and Human Resources, so the Extensibility Lead plays a key role supporting the organization by driving the technical aspects of SAP solutions. They own SAP extensibility standards within a DEV/OPS context.
Candidates will be expected to bring extensive capabilities and a track record of success related to managing SAP technical development and integration scenarios within a complex and dynamic SAP landscape, across on-premise and cloud-hosted environments.
What you'll do
- Define and implement the extensibility strategy and standards to guide SAP technical development and integration activities based on industry trends. Champion and facilitate adoption of SAP extensibility standards and best practices.
- Act as a technical lead on project initiatives to ensure compliance with extensibility standards.
- Lead a team of 15-20 intermediate to senior SAP developers. Ensure resourcing capacity is aligned with demands while ensuring forecasts are accurate and budgets are monitored.
- Collaborate closely with development teams, product owners, project managers, users, and technical teams to understand business requirements, and to actively support the achievement of associated project, program, and organizational goals.
- Continually maintain and enhance knowledge of SAP BTP extensibility framework and tools to ensure capabilities can be enabled and leveraged for business benefit.
- Utilize team feedback and metrics (e.g., quality, delivery schedule, effort) to identify areas of opportunity and work with team to continuously improve.
- Support the product owners and other teams to help realize benefits of DEV/OPS planning and development approach.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of development and integration standards and processes, and documentation of all technical developments within the landscape.
- Actively participate in learning opportunities such as communities of practice or conferences to improve skills and better support the team.
- Mentor development teams to ensure a knowledgeable, disciplined, and productive culture focused on realization of business value for BC Hydro.
Skills and Competencies
- Deep knowledge and proficiency around enterprise SAP BTP and extensibility technical environment, including SAPS/4HANA, ECC and ABAP.
- Knowledge and proficiency in SAP development, including design, coding, and testing cycles.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent people management skills, including coaching and ability to motivate teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent years of experience).
- 5-7 years of experience managing SAP technical environments, including SAP BTP development and integration scenarios as well as a strong understanding of legacy SAP environments.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PI, Portal, Solution Manager.
- Thorough understanding of SAP's Clean Core Approach and SAP Build.
- Knowledge and experience with SuccessFactors, C/4HANA, Fiori and other SAP technologies would be an asset.
- Experience in managing, designing, configuring, and developing in SAP.
